Capitol Reef National Park will host the return of its popular Reef Ride cycling event on Sept. 19 and 26, offering visitors a rare chance to experience the Scenic Drive free of vehicle traffic. From sunrise until 3 p.m. each day, the road will be reserved for cyclists — including Class 1, 2 and 3 e bikes — along with hikers and runners.

Capitol Reef National Park is excited to announce the 'Reef Ride' bike event, set to take place on the mornings of September 27th and 28th, in celebration of the newly repaved Scenic Drive and National Public Lands Day. During this special event, the Scenic Drive will be closed to vehicle traffic and open to cyclists, including Class 1, 2, and 3 e-bikes, as well as hikers and runners.
Starting October 15, all campsites in Fruita Campground will be reservable year-round, up to six months in advance. Just like during the peak season (March 1- October 31), campsites will be reservable on Recreation.gov for the winter season as well (November 1 to February 28).
The National Park Service (NPS), in cooperation with the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), will begin work on an approximately $12 million project to rehabilitate Scenic Drive and multiple parking lots in Capitol Reef National Park.
