Add State & Nation to your home screen or desktop for direct access to our news, state editions, sports, travel and practical guides. Installation is free.
On iPhone, installation finishes in Safari’s Share menu. This link opens the setup steps; Safari does not offer a one-tap install button.

Use Safari’s own Share menu to install. The website cannot open the Add to Home Screen confirmation for you.
- Open thestateandnation.com in Safari. If this page is inside another app, copy the address and open it in Safari.
- Tap Safari’s Share icon — the square with an upward arrow. Depending on your Safari layout, first tap the More (…) or Page Menu button, then Share.
- Scroll down the list of actions and tap Add to Home Screen. If it is missing, scroll to Edit Actions and add Add to Home Screen, then select it.
- Keep Open as Web App switched on if shown. Tap Add in the confirmation screen.
- Return to your home screen and tap the State & Nation icon to launch the app.
Added it before? Remove the old home-screen icon, then add it again using the steps above.
Android
- Open this page in Chrome.
- Tap Install State & Nation if it appears, or open Chrome’s menu and choose Install app or Add to Home screen.
- Confirm the installation and open the State & Nation icon.
Computer
In Chrome or Edge, use the install icon in the address bar or the browser’s app installation menu. On supported Macs, Safari offers File → Add to Dock. Menu wording varies by browser.
Reading and updates
The installed app uses the same content as the website. Connect to the internet to load articles and current updates. If your connection drops, an offline screen helps you return when you’re connected.
