The National Park Service invites the public to honor the legacy of our 36th president at the annual wreath-laying ceremony marking the 118th anniversary of President Lyndon B. Johnson’s birth. This commemorative event will take place at 10:00 am on Thursday, August 27, at President Johnson’s gravesite on the LBJ Ranch. Mark K. Updegrove, noted author and presidential historian, will deliver the keynote address.

The ceremony continues a tradition that Lady Bird Johnson began in 1973. Colonel Erik L. Dutkiewicz will help present the wreath and provide remarks. President and Mrs. Johnson’s granddaughter, Catherine Robb, will be the keynote speaker.

The ceremony continues a tradition that Mrs. Claudia “Lady Bird” Johnson began in 1973. US Air Force Colonel Will Freds will help present the wreath and provide remarks. Shelton Coleman, whose family has a long history with the Johnsons, will be the keynote speaker.
Rangers at Lyndon B. Johnson National Historical Park anticipate the days of April 6, 7, and 8 could be some of the busiest in park history. Visitors to the park on those days can expect some changes to normal park operations and should understand that access to the park will be limited at times by available parking.
On Monday, April 8, a total solar eclipse will be crossing from Mexico into Texas and heading northeast toward Maine and Canada. It has been dubbed the Great North American 2024 Total Solar Eclipse. Rangers at Lyndon B. Johnson National Historical Park anticipate the days of April 6, 7, and 8 could be some of the busiest in park history. Visitors should plan ahead.
Lyndon B. Johnson National Historical Park is excited to announce that the construction phase of the Texas White House Rehabilitation Project, funded by the Great American Outdoors Act (GAOA) and Repair and Rehabilitation funds, will begin January 2, 2024. Visitors can continue to walk the grounds of the Texas White House Complex daily until park closing at 5:00 pm on December 31, 2023 at which time the Complex will close to the public for the duration of the project. Affected structures include the Texas White House, Hangar Visitor Center, and Lockheed JetStar.

The Hanger Visitor Center at Lyndon B. Johnson National Historical Park has closed in preparation for the construction phase of the Texas White House Rehabilitation Project funded by the Great American Outdoors Act (GAOA) Legacy Restoration Fund.
The park announces the opening of two new temporary exhibits, "The Texas Oval Office" and "The Cabinet Oak Project." "The Texas Oval Office" enables visitors to feel as though they are stepping inside the home office of President Johnson in the Texas White House. "The Cabinet Oak Project" is an art exhibition using wood from the historic, 300-year-old oak under which the President once held meetings.
From Monday, March 6, through Wednesday, March 8, the Hangar Visitor Center at the LBJ Ranch in Stonewall, Texas will undergo structural investigations for rehabilitation of the Hangar Building. For the safety of the public, the Hangar Visitor Center, including its restrooms, will be closed March 6-8.
From Monday, January 2, through Wednesday, January 4, the LBJ Ranch in Stonewall, Texas will begin preparation for the Texas White House Rehabilitation Project, funded by the Great American Outdoors Act (GAOA). The engineering and architectural firm of Wiss, Janney, Elstner Associates, Inc. will be conducting site investigations to determine the above and below-ground conditions of the Texas White House and other historic structures.

Beginning at 6:30 pm at the LBJ Ranch near Stonewall, the National Park Service will host programs highlighting the marvels of the night sky and the importance of preserving dark skies.
On Sunday, August 21st, Lyndon B. Johnson National Historical Park will launch "Texas White House: Past, Present, and Future," a series of short educational videos on the history and importance of the Texas White House and LBJ Ranch.
