The Cayman Islands' Pirates Week Festival begins Friday, October 30, on Cayman Brac, opening a three-island program that continues through November 21. The government schedule assigns October 30-31 to Cayman Brac, November 6-14 to Grand Cayman and November 20-21 to Little Cayman, so travelers need to match both their island and their dates to the correct program.
Confirmed Cayman Brac opening-weekend listings include a children's and teenagers' Halloween party at Cayman Brac Heritage House from 5:30 to 10 p.m. Friday, a separate evening party at La Esperanza on Friday and Saturday, and a Saturday family fun day at Scott's Dock from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. The official calendar places the island parade between the Old Airport and Scott's Dock from 3 to 4 p.m. Saturday, followed by fireworks at 8:30 p.m.
The 2026 festival is the 49th staging and carries the theme “Spirits, Gold & Glory.” The government describes a broader mix of district heritage days, parades, pirate-landing reenactments, family activities, a cardboard boat race and a 5K sea swim. Those descriptions establish the festival's scope, but they do not make every activity available on every island or every date.
Some later calendar entries still lack final times or complete participation terms. Many festival events are free, according to the official FAQ, while some can charge a fee or require registration. Travelers should use the individual event listing as the controlling source instead of assuming that the general festival announcement functions as a ticket or guarantees admission.
What Travelers Need to Know
Choose the island before booking around the festival: Cayman Brac events are October 30-31, Grand Cayman runs November 6-14, and Little Cayman follows November 20-21. A hotel or flight on one island does not place a traveler at events on another.
Use the official event calendar for the latest time, venue, admission and registration terms. The FAQ says many events are free, but individual listings can have fees or sign-up requirements, and some later entries still await complete details.
Travel between Grand Cayman and Cayman Brac requires a separate inter-island flight; the official tourism site identifies Cayman Airways Express service. Build transfer time into the itinerary and confirm the current airline schedule rather than assuming same-day ferry-style access.
For the Cayman Brac parade and fireworks, arrive with enough time for local traffic controls around the Old Airport-to-Scott's Dock route. Follow any police, festival or venue instructions posted on the day, and recheck weather conditions because outdoor programs can change.
About the Location
Cayman Brac, the opening-weekend host, is the second largest of the three Cayman Islands and lies northeast of Grand Cayman. The island's name comes from the Gaelic word for a steep bluff, the limestone ridge that rises along the island and shapes many of its hiking and cave experiences. The official tourism site also emphasizes the island's smaller communities, maritime culture and soft-adventure setting.
Cayman Brac Heritage House, the site of Friday's youth event, presents local traditions and material culture in a traditional-style Caymanian home and grounds. Beginning the national festival on Cayman Brac gives the smaller Sister Island a distinct weekend rather than treating the celebration as a single Grand Cayman event. The later move to Little Cayman follows the same island-specific structure.
