Women’s Rights National Historical Park and Harriet Tubman National Historical Park will host a joint Underground Railroad special event week from September 16 to September 21, 2025.
The public is invited to commemorate Harriet Tubman Day on March 10 at noon in the Thompson Memorial A.M.E. Zion Church on Parker Street in Auburn, part of Harriet Tubman National Historical Park. The event marks Tubman's approximate birthday in 1822 and will be held in the same sanctuary where her funeral took place in 1913.
After years of careful restoration and rehabilitation, The Thompson Memorial A.M.E. Zion Church and parsonage will open to the public on June 22, 2024. Both buildings are part of Harriet Tubman National Historical Park.
Harriet Tubman National Historical Park would like to introduce Brittany Lane as the first Lead Park Ranger for the park. Brittany will begin her new role on November 19, 2023.
A new National Park Service (NPS) report shows that 6,675,119 visitors to national parks in Maryland spent $246.6 million in the state in 2021. That spending resulted in 2,940 jobs and had a cumulative benefit to the state economy of $344.3 million.
