The National Park Service has selected Robert Stewart as the new superintendent of Selma to Montgomery National Historic Trail, Tuskegee Institute National Historic Site and Tuskegee Airmen National Historic Site. Stewart began his new role on Sept. 20.
Starting on January 29, the National Park Service (NPS) will open the visitor centers at the Selma to Montgomery National Historic Trail and Tuskegee Airmen National Historic Site six days a week, Monday - Saturday.
The Selma to Montgomery National Historic Trail announces the acquisition of six properties near the historic Edmund Pettus Bridge in Selma for the construction of a $10 million interpretive education center commemorating the Selma to Montgomery voting rights marches of 1965.
The Lowndes and Montgomery Interpretive Centers will reopen on 5/28/2021. Guidelines of the CDC will be followed to reduce the spread of COVID-19 and recreate responsibly.
Tuskegee Airmen NHS, Tuskegee Institute NHS, and Selma to Montgomery NHT are currently accepting applications for the Traditional Trades Apprenticeship Program. The program is open to ages 18-30
In observance of Black History Month 2021, the Selma to Montgomery National Historic Trail will feature special posts and recorded ranger programs on its Facebook page throughout the month of February.
These National Park Sites are announcing modifications to operations to implement the latest guidance from the White House, Centers for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC), and local and state authorities to promote social distancing. As of March 20, 2020 all visitor contact stations and park Head Quarters, will be closed to the public until further notice.
