Cody changes utility courtesy alerts, but keeps mailed shutoff notices

Staff Writer · 2026-10-15 · Cody

Cody's October 1 notice says email will replace automated calls about overdue utility balances. Customers may decline email, and the city will still mail notices identifying shutoff dates when accounts enter the disconnection process.

Residents and businesses can check their account's contact details or supply an email address by calling 307-527-7511, option 1, or following the contact-update form linked in the official announcement. The notice gives no universal enrollment deadline or exact date when the switch takes effect.

The city's September 21 FAQ says the new online portal is optional: existing payment methods and paper bills remain available. Customers whose contact information is already correct need not submit it again. An email reminder is not a substitute for reviewing a mailed disconnection notice and its account-specific payment deadline.

Customers anticipating difficulty paying should contact Utility Billing before that deadline. Staff can explain the balance and any available options; the FAQ does not promise assistance or a payment extension. This guide concerns the city's current notices, not a newly announced rate change.
