Cheyenne shifts sanitation pickups for the October 12 holiday week

Staff Writer · 2026-10-13 · Cheyenne

Cheyenne trash, recycling and yard-waste routes scheduled for October 12–15 move one weekday later because of the Columbus Day holiday, while local disposal facilities follow separate reopening schedules.

Residents should set containers out one weekday after their normal collection day during the October 12–16 service week. Monday routes move to Tuesday, Tuesday routes to Wednesday, Wednesday routes to Thursday and Thursday routes to Friday. The city did not announce a Saturday collection.

The Solid Waste Transfer Station on North College Drive, the Happy Jack Landfill and the Compost Facility are scheduled to reopen Tuesday, October 13. Household Hazardous Waste remains closed Tuesday and is scheduled to reopen Wednesday, October 14. The Sanitation Division office and other city offices remained open on the holiday.

The city asks residents to bag household trash, leave recyclable material loose, break boxes down to no larger than two feet by two feet, and keep branches, bags and tumbleweeds out of yard-waste containers. Residents can call 307-637-6440 or use the Recycle Coach app for schedule notices.
