Madison leaf collection requires an address-specific set-out date

Staff Writer · 2026-10-15 · Madison

Madison's October 2 fall collection notice gives each neighborhood three scheduled opportunities for leaves and yard waste. Residents should check their address, keep branches separate and place material beside the street rather than in it.

Use the Streets Division’s address lookup to find the next set-out date for your home. Pickup is expected during the following work week, not at an individually guaranteed appointment. Some neighborhoods began October 4; others have different dates.

Separate branches and brush from leaves and garden waste. Leave piles on the terrace or grass beside the road with five feet of clearance; do not place them in the street or either collection cart. Keep bags open. Crews may split plastic bags and leave them behind.

City residents and taxpayers may instead use drop-off sites. Check the linked city page for identification requirements, hours and restrictions. An extra collection round depends on weather and is not promised; the release gives no universal final deadline.
