Seattle seeks five renters for city advisory commission

Staff Writer · 2026-10-04 · Seattle

Seattle is accepting applications through November 1 at 11:59 p.m. for five vacancies on the Seattle Renters' Commission, with new members' terms beginning in March 2027.

The city is seeking Seattle renters for two City Council appointments, two mayoral appointments and one commission-selected seat. Applicants must rent within Seattle when appointed and throughout their terms.

The 15-member commission advises the mayor, City Council and city departments about policies affecting renters. Meetings are public and commissioners serve without compensation; the city says it is seeking membership that reflects Seattle's neighborhoods and different rental-housing experiences.

Applicants must use the city's online boards-and-commissions application and select the Seattle Renters' Commission, or request a mailed application from the city contact listed in the release. Applications are due Sunday, November 1, at 11:59 p.m. Pacific, and successful applicants are scheduled to begin serving in March 2027.
