Virginia Beach schedules city career fair for October 6

Staff Writer · 2026-10-04 · Virginia Beach

Virginia Beach will hold a city-government career fair from noon to 6 p.m. on October 6 at the Virginia Beach Convention Center, with multiple departments and some on-the-spot interviews.

The City of Virginia Beach says job seekers can meet representatives from 14 city departments on the second floor of the Virginia Beach Convention Center, 1000 19th Street, from noon to 6 p.m. on Tuesday, October 6. Prospective applicants may pre-register online through the link in the city's announcement.

The participating departments include Fire, Police, the Sheriff's Office, Emergency Communications, Human Services, Information Technology, Libraries, Parks and Recreation, Planning and Community Development, Public Utilities and Public Works. The city lists openings across nursing, engineering, skilled trades, commercial-driver positions, public safety, paraprofessional and operational work.

Select positions will offer on-the-spot interviews, but the announcement does not say that every attendee or vacancy will receive one. Applicants should review current openings and role-specific requirements on the city's careers page before attending and bring materials appropriate for the jobs they plan to discuss.
