The Utah Department of Transportation opened the annual call for applications on October 1. The program can support non-infrastructure work such as safety education and encouragement, as well as physical improvements including sidewalks, school crossings, pavement markings, signs and bicycle parking. Every grant requires a 6.67% local match and compliance with federal funding rules.
UDOT scheduled regional workshops for January 4 in Ogden, January 5 in Salt Lake City, January 6 in Orem and January 7 in Richfield; the program page says a virtual option is available by request. Applications are due March 5, 2027, by 5 p.m. The page does not identify a timezone, so applicants should verify the cutoff and follow the submission process in the current application or review guide.
UDOT plans to distribute applications for scoring on March 19, select projects after applicant presentations on April 22, notify applicants by April 30 and make funding available October 1, 2027. At the time of review, the program page still labeled the fiscal 2028 forms as coming October 1 even though the call had opened. Project teams should confirm the current application link, required form, eligible scope, local match and federal requirements with UDOT before filing.
