Nashville approves three business incentives; applications expected in November

Staff Writer · 2026-10-07 · Nashville

Metro Council approved a Legacy Business Program, a Workforce Advancement Incentive and an expansion of Nashville’s Property Investment Incentive, with legacy-business applications expected to open in early November after final rules and procedures are completed.

Metro Council passed the legislation on October 6. The package creates the Legacy Business Program and Workforce Advancement Incentive and changes the existing Property Investment Incentive for Nashville companies.

The Industrial Development Board is scheduled to adopt program rules, after which the Mayor’s Office of Economic and Community Development will finalize the application-review process. The city expects the legacy-business application window to open in early November for at least 30 days, with initial grant recipients likely to be notified in February 2027.

Those dates are the city’s current expectations rather than final guarantees. The release does not provide complete eligibility standards, award amounts or application documents, so businesses should wait for the adopted rules and official application notice before assuming they qualify.
