The Pennsylvania Broadband Development Authority announced the awards on October 2 after the National Telecommunications and Information Administration approved more than $711 million in BEAD funding for Pennsylvania in April. The state says remaining program funds are scheduled to be awarded before the end of 2026.
Supported work may include fiber and fixed-wireless infrastructure, multifamily deployment, planning and engineering, personnel costs, physical improvements and network software. Projects require a match of at least 25 percent of total project cost, and the award list includes public authorities and private internet providers.
The state reports that locations without high-speed access have declined from more than 330,000 households in 2022 to fewer than 133,000. Residents can check the new ConnectPA website for the authority's estimated connection timing for their location. An award does not mean every listed project is already built or that service is immediately available.
