East Broad Street paving is one stage of Columbus’s longer road project

Staff Writer · 2026-10-14 · Columbus

Columbus’s October 13 project page describes road, walking and cycling improvements between I-270 and Outerbelt Street. Its traffic notice keeps two westbound lanes and left-turn lanes during paving, temporarily removes dedicated right-turn lanes and gives a weather-dependent five-week paving estimate.

That estimate is not a promise that the entire project will finish in October. The broader construction schedule runs from summer 2026 to fall 2027, subject to weather, with an estimated $1.4 million construction cost.

The traffic notice starts the westbound lane shift on September 13. Eastbound traffic uses existing lanes until the newly paved area can accommodate it. Drivers should follow changing construction signs rather than assume the older lane layout still applies.

Plans include a south-side sidewalk, a north-side shared-use path, improved signals, lighting, street trees and drainage work where needed. Columbus identifies the corridor as part of its High Injury Network. Residents can subscribe to updates on the project page or send questions to construction engineer Scott Roe at SARoe@columbus.gov.
