Reno’s October cleanup dates accept bulky household waste, not electronics

Staff Writer · 2026-10-15 · Reno

Reno residents can bring residential bulky waste to free October 17 and 24, 2026, cleanup events from 9 a.m. to noon, ending sooner if bins fill. These dates exclude hazardous waste and electronics.

The October 17 site is Brown Elementary School, 13815 Spelling Ct., with entry from Spelling Court. On October 24, use Wooster High School, 1331 E. Plumb Lane, entering from Harvard Way. Residency in Reno, rather than the ward hosting a cleanup, determines who can use these events.

Do not bring paint, pesticides, large batteries, cleaning chemicals, mercury-containing items, asbestos, prescription drugs or radioactive smoke detectors. The separate hazardous-waste and electronics collection listed for September 26 has already passed; it is not part of the upcoming October events.

Check the city’s current cleanup page before loading a vehicle. Questions go to Reno Direct, 775-334-4636; its weekday telephone hours are 9 a.m.–4 p.m. No later drop-off is promised once the containers are full.
