Lincoln utility work interrupts Fremont Street and a Havelock bus route

Staff Writer · 2026-10-14 · Lincoln

Lincoln Transportation and Utilities announced on October 8, 2026, that utility work would close Fremont Street from 56th Street to Touzalin Avenue beginning October 12. StarTran’s Route 41-Havelock will use a detour. Work is scheduled to finish October 16, subject to weather and other unforeseen conditions.

The city’s notice identifies the affected Fremont Street segment and asks travelers to use another route while crews complete utility work. It does not supply a turn-by-turn driving detour, so this article does not invent one.

Bus riders should check the Route 41 detour before choosing a stop. The city directs passengers to lincoln.ne.gov/transit or StarTran at 402-476-1234 for route information. Its current street-closure information is available at lincoln.ne.gov/closures.

October 16 is the planned completion date, not a guaranteed reopening. The city warns that weather and unexpected conditions can alter project dates. This is a direct municipal service notice, not a statewide restriction or an application deadline.
