Bozeman opens northwest draft-plan comments before adoption

Staff Writer · 2026-10-15 · Bozeman

Bozeman's official project page, updated October 13, 2026, offers a draft Northwest Bozeman Area Plan and an open online discussion. The approximately 3,000-acre planning effort addresses future growth rather than approving individual developments.

Residents and property owners can download the draft through Engage Bozeman and review its proposed land-use and infrastructure framework. Sign in to the official discussion to submit a comment. The city suggests organizing feedback around natural resources, streets and utilities, active transportation, future land uses or other questions.

The project concerns the northwest portion of the city's growth boundary and is related to, but separate from, the proposed Gooch Hill sewer lift station. The city's FAQ says individual projects would still need separate applications and approvals. The area plan itself does not change property taxes.

The published schedule lists advisory-board review during fall and public hearings and City Commission adoption during winter 2026. These are planned stages, not completed decisions. The checked discussion remains open but provides no precise closing date or time; no comment deadline is inferred.
