Missouri expands diesel relief and extends farm-haul weight rules to December 31

Staff Writer · 2026-10-04

Governor Mike Kehoe's October 9 Executive Order 26-20 replaces the earlier agricultural-only order, suspends Missouri's dyed-diesel restrictions for any purpose and extends specified farm-haul weight relief through December 31, 2026, unless extended.

Update: The October 9 order rescinds Executive Order 26-19. The earlier October 30 end date and agricultural-only fuel restriction described in this guide are superseded. State penalties under Missouri's dyed-diesel prohibition are suspended for vehicles within the new exemption; this is state enforcement relief, not a new grant or reimbursement program.

The farm-haul weight provision remains narrower than the fuel exemption. It covers six-axle combinations with at least 43 feet between the outermost axles carrying specified agricultural products between the listed farm, storage and market destinations. The maximum is 90,000 pounds without a special permit or associated permit fee. Operators cannot add the usual harvest allowance on top.

That weight allowance covers Missouri state highways and local roads, not federal interstates. Posted bridge restrictions and single-axle safety limits still apply. The order terminates December 31 unless extended and gives no closing hour; no precise-time tracker deadline has been inferred. The original publication time and permanent article address have been retained for this correction.
