Grand Rapids opens its Division Avenue fire station

Staff Writer · 2026-10-14 · Grand Rapids

Grand Rapids announced the October 13 opening of Station No. 10 at 1823 Division Avenue South. The $12 million facility has three apparatus bays and approximately 18,900 square feet of space.

The new station sits between Elm and Rose streets. Integrated Architecture and EV Construction developed the facility, which includes drive-through bays, private sleeping rooms and fitness space for firefighters.

Mayor David LaGrand, City Manager Mark Washington and Fire Chief Brad Brown were among officials at the opening. The city describes faster neighborhood responses as an expected benefit; its announcement does not provide measured response-time results or a revised service-area map.

The release confirms an opening, not a future construction proposal. It does not announce a resident application, fee change or service-registration requirement.
