The scholarship is available to eligible full-time students in approved undergraduate or post-baccalaureate educator-preparation programs at Massachusetts public colleges and universities. Funds may cover costs of attendance including tuition, fees, housing, books, transportation, child care and personal expenses.
This is a service-linked award. A recipient must become a licensed educator and work as a teacher of record in a Massachusetts public school within 12 months after finishing the eligible degree or coursework. Each year of scholarship support requires one year of teaching service.
Applicants should first complete the FAFSA or Massachusetts Application for State Financial Aid, then use the MASSAid Student Portal to submit the program application. The state gives November 20 as the closing date but does not state a closing time, so applicants should not assume an end-of-day cutoff. A separate $7,500 loan-repayment application for eligible educators is scheduled to open in April.
