Johnson County nonprofits face an October 19 joint grant cutoff

Staff Writer · 2026-10-14 · Johnson County

Johnson County’s September 8 notice invites established nonprofits to apply for Social Services Block Grants for the 2028–29 fiscal-year funding cycle. Electronic applications are due October 19, 2026, at 5 p.m.; the county says late submissions will not be accepted.

Coralville, North Liberty and Iowa City are participating in the county’s joint process, alongside United Way of Johnson and Washington Counties. The announced support is for organizations serving Johnson County residents through basic and emergency assistance, health services, and child or family well-being programs.

Applicants must use the eCImpact portal identified in the official notice. That portal provides the instructions and account access. The notice concerns an established organization’s funding proposal, not an individual resident’s application for assistance or confirmation that an organization has won a grant.

The release does not specify an award range or the timezone for its 5 p.m. cutoff. Applicants should confirm those details in the instructions and with the county before filing. County funding questions go to Lynette Jacoby at 319-356-6090; electronic-application questions go to Wendy Nolan through the contact link in the original notice.
