Indiana school nutrition equipment grants close October 31

Staff Writer · 2026-10-02

Indiana has $443,185 in USDA equipment-assistance funding for National School Lunch Program participants. Eligible school food authorities may request up to $30,000 for no more than three pieces of equipment, with electronic applications due October 31, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. Eastern.

Public districts, private schools and residential child-care institutions participating in the lunch program may apply. The state prioritizes schools with high demonstrated need, including at least 50 percent of students qualifying for free or reduced-price meals, and schools without previous equipment awards.

Use the online application linked from the Indiana Department of Education notice. Applicants need equipment specifications and supporting documentation; award notices are expected by November 27. Funding is competitive, so applying does not guarantee an award.

Approved purchases are reimbursed after payment. The application requires procurement and spending to finish by September 30, 2027, and warns that purchases before a fully executed contract are at the sponsor’s risk. Questions go to scnfinance@doe.in.gov with the sponsor number and Equipment Grant in the subject.
