Honolulu schedules overnight Skyline emergency drill

Staff Writer · 2026-10-13 · Honolulu

Honolulu will hold an emergency-response exercise at Keoneʻae UH West Oʻahu Skyline Station from 11:30 p.m. October 13 to 3 a.m. October 14, with nearby road closures but no change to normal Skyline operating hours.

The City and County of Honolulu says police, fire, emergency medical services and other first responders will take part in the annual exercise at Keoneʻae UH West Oʻahu Station. The drill is scheduled after regular passenger service ends Tuesday night and into early Wednesday morning.

Normal Skyline service is scheduled from 4 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. on both October 13 and October 14. The city says the exercise itself will not affect train operations.

Drivers should expect closures at the intersection of Kualakaʻi Parkway and Hoʻomohala Avenue, with detour signs and traffic control in place. People near the station should also expect additional emergency-vehicle activity and noise during the exercise window. The notice does not ask residents to register or take part.
