Can families use the new playground yet?
No: Savannah’s current project update says the playground is not open to the public. Inspection targets are not permission to use the playground; the city will announce an opening date after the work is finished and final inspection is passed.

Why was opening postponed?
The city says water collected on the site after construction because drainage was not working as expected. It postponed public access while correcting that problem rather than opening the playground before repairs were complete.

What repairs are underway?
Savannah’s Capital Projects team began installing drainage pipe and correcting the ground’s grade on October 6. Recreation and Leisure staff are also preparing the site to operate, and Facilities staff will clean and stock its restrooms.

What dates should residents watch?
The city expects drainage and restoration work by October 19 if weather and drainage conditions permit, followed by termite treatment by October 21. It expects a final field inspection by October 22 after the drainage work and restoration are complete. These are conditional construction milestones, not a promised opening schedule.

What else must happen before opening?
The city’s project page lists mulch replacement, fence completion and restroom preparation among the remaining tasks. Staffing, maintenance and signs must also be ready, and the site must be cleared as safe for public use.

When will the city announce access and the celebration?
The city expects its next update after the October 22 inspection and says an opening date will be confirmed after construction and final inspection. Its October 14 release attributes an expected November opening-date announcement to Community Services chief Ashley Reynolds Marshall. A November announcement is expected, not a confirmed opening day; the city says a ribbon-cutting will follow.
