When is early voting available?
Early voting begins Thursday, October 22, and ends Sunday, November 1. Sites are open 7 a.m.–7 p.m. October 22–24 and October 26–27, then 11 a.m.–7 p.m. October 28–November 1. The Department of Elections schedules no early voting on Sunday, October 25.
Where may I cast a ballot?
A voter may use any early-voting location in the county where that voter lives. The state lists four sites in Kent County, six in New Castle County and nine in Sussex County. Check the Department of Elections site list before traveling because an early-voting location may differ from an assigned Election Day polling place.
Who may use early voting?
Any Delaware resident registered by the October 10 general-election deadline may vote early, regardless of political party. The ordinary registration deadline has passed; the notice does not create a new same-day registration process.
What identification may I show?
The accepted examples include a Delaware driver’s license or state ID, an elections mailing, or a current utility bill, bank statement, government check, paycheck or other government document showing the voter’s name and address. A voter without identification may still vote after election officers verify the registration and the voter completes an Affidavit of Affirmation of Voter Identity.
What changes on Election Day?
Early voting permits any site within the voter’s county. On Tuesday, November 3, voters must use their assigned polling place instead. The state’s online voter portal provides registration records and polling-place information.
What should I verify before leaving?
Confirm the date, hours and county site on the Department of Elections page, especially around the October 25 break and the change to later opening hours October 28. The state also provides a GIS lookup for early-voting and Election Day locations.
