Windsor Locks rail service moves downtown October 18

Staff Writer · 2026-10-14 · Windsor Locks

Governor Ned Lamont and Transportation Commissioner Garrett Eucalitto announced that the new Windsor Locks station at 231 Main Street will begin CTrail Hartford Line and Amtrak service October 18, 2026, with expanded Bradley airport bus connections. Track construction continues, with full project completion expected in spring 2028.

Passengers will use a downtown location instead of the station south of the town center. The release lists 31 weekday trains, 23 on Saturdays and 24 on Sundays, with service beginning at 4:53 a.m. weekdays and 6:19 a.m. weekends. It also announces expanded airport bus connections. Check the operators' current schedules before planning a connection.

The station provides 160 parking spaces, bicycle racks, electric-vehicle chargers and a separate bus area. Level boarding, heated waiting space, canopies, ticket machines and passenger information displays are among its accessibility and passenger amenities.

The $121.2 million project also includes roadway, rail and pedestrian improvements. Opening passenger service is not the same as finishing all construction. CTDOT says it is coordinating the remaining work with Amtrak; the spring 2028 completion date remains an expectation.
