Fayetteville sets four-day Skillern Road closure

Staff Writer · October 21, 2026 · Fayetteville

Fayetteville will close Skillern Road between Brookbury Crossing and Charleston Crossing from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. October 26–29 while crews inspect underground infrastructure and perform maintenance.

The daytime closure is scheduled for Monday through Thursday, October 26–29. Fayetteville says the work area covers Skillern Road between Brookbury Crossing and Charleston Crossing; the notice does not identify a separate nighttime closure.

Signed detours will send eastbound traffic north on North Old Wire Road and westbound traffic north on Rom Orchard Road. Drivers should allow extra time and follow work-zone signs rather than assuming the segment will be open during the listed work hours.

The city describes the work as an underground-infrastructure inspection with maintenance as needed. It does not specify the asset being inspected or promise that the schedule cannot change, so residents should check the official notice for any amendment before traveling.
