Arkansas communities face an October 16 infrastructure-grant cutoff

Staff Writer · 2026-10-14

Arkansas Economic Development Commission’s current General Assistance notice sets October 16, 2026, at 4:30 p.m. as the application cutoff. Eligible cities and counties can seek $75,000–$500,000, or up to $1 million for qualifying water or wastewater expansion projects.

This is funding for local governments, not a direct payment application for residents, businesses or nonprofits. Interested groups must work with a mayor or county judge. Entitlement cities, including Little Rock, have separate funding and cannot apply to this state pool.

Projects must satisfy a CDBG national objective, such as helping low- and moderate-income people, addressing blight or responding to an urgent community need. Officials should use AEDC’s current forms and guidelines, document participation and project readiness, and arrange an approved administrator if awarded funding. Water and wastewater proposals need prior Water/Wastewater Advisory Committee approval.

The August 2026 guidelines confirm the October 16 date. The web notice supplies 4:30 p.m. but does not identify its time zone, and the guidelines do not resolve that omission. Confirm submission arrangements with AEDC Grants Management at 501-682-7389; no exact-time tracker entry is being inferred.
