How crew chiefs are preparing for return to Charlotte oval
What this means
NASCAR reported that Cup Series teams prepared to start the October 11 Charlotte race without practice or qualifying after rain canceled both sessions. Crew chiefs Charles Denike and Luke Lambert said the absence of track time placed additional weight on simulation, shop preparation and limited in-race adjustments. Bubba Wallace was assigned the eighth starting position and Carson Hocevar the 21st through NASCAR’s metric. The 400-mile event also presented a new setup challenge because the Next Gen car had not previously run a shorter fall race on Charlotte’s oval.
