OLYMPIA, Wash. – The Washington State Patrol (WSP), in partnership with Washington Traffic Safety Commission is proud to announce that 12 law enforcement officers have successfully completed the rigorous training required to become certified Drug Recognition Experts (DRE). These newly certified experts will significantly enhance local
efforts to combat drug-impaired driving and keep community roadways safe.
The comprehensive training program, which is managed in Washington by WSP, and nationally by the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) with support from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), prepares officers to identify drivers under the influence of drugs other than, or in addition to, alcohol.
