Montpelier, VT – Vermont housing developers, nonprofits, instrumentalities of the State, and other eligible organizations have until September 4 to apply for funding through Treasurer Pieciak’s Invest in Vermont program.

The Treasurer recently announced that an additional $25 million is available through the program for projects supporting housing, job creation, and affordability across Vermont. The Treasurer is grateful to the legislature for their partnership in expanding the program.

The new funding builds on more than $130 million already awarded through Invest in Vermont by Treasurer Pieciak. Collectively, those investments have leveraged over a half a billion dollars of outside capital, supporting nearly 1,700 units of affordable, high-quality housing and 200 permanent jobs—all without raising taxes.

With just over a week until the application deadline, Treasurer Pieciak emphasized that housing will remain the top investment priority under the program.

“Whether you are renting, buying your first home, or just trying to keep up with property taxes, housing in Vermont is far too expensive,” said Treasurer Pieciak. “I look forward to investing even more dollars locally into building a Vermont that we can all afford to call home.”

The Invest in Vermont program authorizes the Treasurer to invest 12.5% of the State’s average daily cash balance into projects supporting economic growth and affordability in Vermont. Funding is awarded through low-interest loans, offsetting high interest rates and ever-rising costs that otherwise make projects difficult, if not impossible, to finance.

Nonprofits, instrumentalities of the State, municipalities, or similarly situated organizations are encouraged to apply for funding through September 4, 2026. Multi-partner applications are also welcome.

A request for investment proposals is available here.
