What this means

Governor Katie Hobbs reported on October 14, 2026, that ArrayRx data showed Arizona’s AZRx prescription-discount program had saved participants more than $1 million, averaging $249 per prescription. The free card is available regardless of residents’ age, income or insurance status and is accepted at 98% of Arizona pharmacies, according to the announcement. Discounts can reach 80%, but the reported average is not a guaranteed saving on each prescription. Hobbs encouraged residents to enroll through the linked program.

Program saved Arizonans over $1 million, Hobbs encourages more Arizonans to sign up for free discount card

Phoenix, AZ – According to the most recent data from ArrayRx, Governor Hobbs’ AZRx program has saved Arizonans an average of $249 per prescription. In total, AZRx participants have already saved over $1 million through the free program. Through AZRx, Arizonans can sign up for a free discount card that saves them up to 80% on their medications. By lowering prescription costs, AZRx aims to help residents stay on prescribed treatments, provide security to those who experience gaps in insurance coverage, and reduce the risk of preventable emergency room visits.

“Access to affordable prescriptions saves lives and unlocks security and freedom that are key to the Arizona Promise,” said Governor Katie Hobbs. “I launched AZRx to lower the cost of medications and improve health outcomes for Arizona families. I’m thrilled that Arizonans are saving an average of $249 per prescription through the program, and I encourage more Arizonans to sign up for a card so they can save money too.”

The discount card is available through ArrayRx, a multistate public pharmacy collaborative that Arizona joined last year and allows the state to negotiate lower drug prices for its residents. It is accepted at 98% of pharmacies statewide and is available to all Arizonans regardless of age, income, and whether they have insurance. Arizonans can sign up here.

The most frequently filled prescriptions were cholesterol medications, blood pressure medications, and thyroid medications, underscoring the importance of making medications for ongoing health needs more affordable.

“Prescription costs should never stand between people and the medications they need,” said ADHS Director Debbie Johnston. “AZRx gives Arizonans another way to afford their prescriptions, especially when they’re uninsured or their coverage falls short.”

AZRx is part of Governor Hobbs’ ongoing commitment to lowering costs and improving health outcomes for Arizonans. Last month, she announced that her administration erased over $1 billion of Arizonans’ medical debt through its partnership with the national nonprofit Undue Medical Debt.

“Pharmacists see it every day: a patient hears the price at the counter and walks away without the medication their doctor prescribed. AZRx changes that conversation,” said Garet Turner, CEO of the Arizona Pharmacy Association. “Because the card is accepted at 98 percent of Arizona pharmacies, our members can offer patients real savings on the spot, especially for chronic conditions on medications people need to take every day. AZRx helps make it where patients aren’t having to choose between their medications and other living expenses but rather can afford both. The Arizona Pharmacy Association thanks Governor Hobbs for a program that helps patients stay on their treatment and helps pharmacists do their jobs.”

“Putting patients first means helping people get the care they need, when they need it,” said Ann-Marie Alameddin, President and CEO of the Arizona Hospital and Healthcare Association. “Making prescription medications more affordable helps patients manage their health, stay on their treatment plans and reduce the need for more serious care. We appreciate Governor Hobbs’ continued focus on lowering costs and improving access to care for Arizonans.”
