What this means

New York State Police reported October 14, 2026 that a tractor pulling a hay wagon crashed in Columbus, Chenango County, at about 6:32 p.m. October 10. Police said driver Donald G. Campbell, 70, of Sherburne was trapped beneath the overturned tractor and taken to Wynn Hospital with serious injuries; his injured hand was later amputated. The wagon carried 12 people, and a nine-year-old boy and a 47-year-old woman were ejected and sustained minor injuries without hospital transport. Police attributed the crash sequence to loss of control on a downhill dirt road and said the investigation remains open.
