MADISON, WI. Oct. 27, 2026 — Charter Manufacturing Company, Inc, is expanding its Mequon headquarters location as part of its long-term growth strategy and continued investment in its people with a $5 million investment that will provide additional office and training space to bring employees under one roof to strengthen collaboration and professional development.

Charter Manufacturing, a group of differentiated metals manufacturing business, is a family-owned, fourth-generation Wisconsin business celebrating its 90th anniversary in 2026.

The Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation (WEDC) is supporting the project by authorizing up to $200,000 in performance-based state income tax credits. The actual amount of tax credits the company will receive is contingent upon the number of jobs created and the amount of capital investment during that period.

“Charter Manufacturing Company has a long history in the state of Wisconsin,” said John W. Miller, secretary and CEO of WEDC, the state’s leading economic development organization. “It’s exciting that they’ve decided to grow their presence in Mequon and it reflects our state’s long manufacturing tradition.”

“For 90 years, Charter Manufacturing has grown by investing in our people, our communities, and the future of manufacturing,” said John W. Mellowes, CEO of Charter Manufacturing. “This expansion reflects our continued commitment to Wisconsin and will create more opportunities for our employees to work, learn, and grow together.”

The company plans to invest $5 million to expand office capacity and training room space at its current headquarters on Corporate Parkway in Mequon. The expansion will create additional workspace, collaboration areas, and training facilities to better support employees across the organization.

The headquarters serves as a central hub for meetings, leadership collaboration, and training for employees from Charter Manufacturing’s four Wisconsin businesses and teams throughout the Midwest. With approximately 2,500 employees companywide, the expansion reflects the company’s continued growth and evolving workplace needs while positioning the company to create approximately 20 additional jobs over the coming years.

“Charter Manufacturing’s decision to expand its headquarters in Mequon is a strong vote of confidence in Ozaukee County,” said Kathleen Cady Schilling, executive director of Ozaukee Economic Development. “This expansion will bring more high-quality jobs to local families and create additional opportunities for Ozaukee residents. This kind of long-term investment from one our key Ozaukee County businesses shows their belief in our community, and we’re proud to support them through this expansion.”
