What this means

New York State Police identified the motorcyclist killed in an October 9 crash in Schroeppel as Hunter J. Hennessey, 22, of Baldwinsville. According to the preliminary investigation, Hennessey was traveling south on County Route 57 and attempting to pass a tractor-trailer near Bankrupt Road when his motorcycle collided with a pickup crossing the road; the motorcycle then caught fire, and he was pronounced dead at the scene. Police said the investigation remains open, so the release's account is preliminary.
