HONOLULU RETAIL EGG PRICE DATA RELEASED FOR SECOND QUARTER OF 2026

HONOLULU — The price of a dozen eggs in Honolulu spiked more than 11% in the past year, from $9.04 a dozen to $10.06. That’s according to new statistics compiled by the Department of Agriculture and Biosecurity (DAB) Market Analysis and News Branch (MANB). During that same span a dozen eggs from the U.S. continent changed from $7.78 a dozen to $7.87, an increase of slightly more than 1%.

The average price for a dozen local organic eggs soared 22% from the first quarter of this year to the second quarter, jumping from $10.81 to $13.19 a dozen. In that same period, U.S. continent organic egg prices rose less than 7%, from $9.62 to $10.26. The latest data was collected between April 1 and June 30 of this year.

While rising prices continue, impacting the cost of goods, supporting local farmers is essential for local production to continue. “If you want the best, Buy Local,” said Sharon Hurd, chairperson of the Hawaiʻi Board of Agriculture. “The money you spend on eggs stays in the islands, pays workers, generates taxes and supports local food production.”

On a positive note, conventional egg prices fell considerably from (Q1) to (Q2), by nearly 6% for an 18-count carton of local eggs, down from $14.05 to $13.24.

The latest statistics were compiled by MANB and the full report can be found here.

From invasive species prevention, low-interest agriculture loans or quality assurance on products like eggs, milk and livestock across the state, DAB remains committed to providing valuable services and resources for our island state.
