What this means

Hawai‘i’s Public Utilities Commission announced revised arrangements for two Hawaiian Electric reliability meetings because the earlier venues were unavailable. Pāhala’s meeting moves to the community center on October 27, 2026, at 6:30 p.m.; Hilo’s moves to Hawai‘i Community College on November 4, at 7 p.m. or five minutes after the preceding matter ends, whichever is later. The commission’s filed notice identifies the Hilo date as Wednesday, unlike the weekday in the governor’s October 15 release. The October 21 Kailua-Kona meeting at Kealakehe High School remains scheduled for 6 p.m.

PUC RESCHEDULES HAWAI‘I ISLAND PUBLIC INFORMATIONAL MEETINGS ON HAWAIIAN ELECTRIC’S SERVICE RELIABILITY

Updated Dates, Times and Locations for Hilo and Pāhala Meetings; Kailua‑Kona Meeting Remains Unchanged

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

October 15, 2026

HONOLULU – The Hawai‘i Public Utilities Commission has rescheduled two public informational meetings on Hawai‘i Island that were originally announced in September as part of the commission’s ongoing effort to hear from communities about Hawaiian Electric’s service reliability and weather‑related impacts. The changes are due to venue availability issues at the previously scheduled school sites.

These informational meetings are intended to give Hawai‘i Island residents the chance to ask questions, learn more about the status of Hawaiian Electric’s service reliability initiatives, and share their experiences related to outages and weather‑driven disruptions.

Updated Meeting Details:

West Hawaiʻi Island – No Change

Date and Time: Wednesday, October 21, 2026, 6:00 p.m.

Location: Kealakehe High School Cafeteria

74-5000 Puohulihuli St., Kailua-Kona

West and South Hawaiʻi Island – Rescheduled with new date and location:

Date and Time: Tuesday, October 27, 2026, 6:30 p.m.

Location: Pāhala Community Center

96 Kamani St., #1149, Pāhala

(Originally October 26, 2026 at Kāʻu High School)

East Hawaiʻi Island – Rescheduled with new date and location:

Date and Time: Monday, November 4, 2026, 7:00 p.m.

Location: Hawaiʻi Community College, Building 389, Rooms 101 and 102

1175 Manono Street, Hilo

(Originally October 20, 2026 at Waiākea High School)

The updated Hilo date allows the informational meeting to follow the rescheduled 6:00 p.m. public hearing on Hawaiian Electric’s rate case rebasing application, providing residents an opportunity to attend both meetings.

The commission will announce additional dates and locations for Maui County and O‘ahu as details are finalized.

The updated schedule for Hawaiian Electric’s service reliability and weather‑related impact meetings is posted on the PUC website at https://puc.hawaii.gov/public-notice/public-informational-meetings-on-hawaiian-electrics-service-reliability-and-weather-related-impacts.

Media outlets and community partners who published the previous dates are asked to update their listings to reflect the corrected schedule.
