Treasurer Sprague Announces 2026 Compass Award Honorees
Recognition program highlights leaders in financial literacy and empowerment
COLUMBUS – Ohio Treasurer Robert Sprague has announced the latest round of Compass Award honorees for 2026. The recognition program commends organizations, programs, and individuals across the state who are working to guide Ohioans toward financial literacy and empowerment.
“Quality financial education is essential for people of all ages and backgrounds to take control of their financial futures,” said Treasurer Sprague. “This year’s Compass Award honorees have shown dedication in their efforts to teaching Ohioans about the value of money, how to use it, and ways to plan for the future. We are excited to recognize these two organizations and the work they do to support financial education in Ohio.”
The 2026 Compass Award honorees are:
The Ohio Credit Union League
The Ohio Credit Union League and its foundation, the Ohio Credit Union Foundation, support credit unions in their missions to empower individuals, families, and students with knowledge and tools to make informed financial decisions. Efforts center on expanding financial capability and strengthening communities throughout Ohio.
As part of the organization’s efforts, credit unions can apply for financial education grants to support the delivery of impactful education and financial empowerment programs. Historically funded projects include, among other programming, classroom instruction, financial reality fairs, digital curriculum, community workshops, and other technology that supports financial capability of participants served by credit unions and their communities.
The Ohio Bankers League
The Ohio Bankers League and its foundation, the Ohio Bankers Foundation, empowers banks to extend financial education and empowerment to their communities. Through collaboration and advocacy, staff expertise and resources support banks delivering impactful programs to educate individuals, families, and small business owners.
In addition to funding for key education and career development initiatives, the Ohio Bankers League offers banks access to the Financial Literacy Bootcamp, a turnkey program that provides a solution for them to deliver financial education to their communities. Bootcamps include Personal Financial Literacy, First-Time Homebuyer, and Small Business Financial Literacy.
