What this means
Washington State Patrol said 39-year-old Micah B. Lacunza was arrested in Seattle on October 5, 2026, after a citizen recognized him from a WSP Most Wanted poster. Lacunza had been charged with vehicular homicide in connection with a February 15 collision on U.S. Route 101 in Clallam County that killed Skylor Richford and injured Mathilde Richford; investigators allege Lacunza crossed the centerline and was impaired. A judge issued a warrant with bail set at $500,000, and WSP said Lacunza will be extradited to Clallam County to face that charge and unrelated charges; the release reports an arrest, not a conviction.

Seattle, WA – On October 5, 2026, 39-year-old Micah B. Lacunza was arrested in Seattle after being placed on the Washington State Patrol (WSP) Most Wanted List in August 2026.
Lacunza was added to the WSP Most Wanted List after being charged with Vehicular Homicide in connection with a fatal collision that occurred on February 15, 2026, on U.S. Route 101 near Palo Alto Road in Clallam County.
According to the investigation, Lacunza was driving a 2004 Chevrolet Silverado westbound toward Sequim when he crossed the centerline and struck a 2007 Toyota FJ Cruiser traveling eastbound. The Toyota was occupied by husband and wife Skylor Richford and Mathilde Richford.
Lacunza and Mathilde Richford were transported by air to Providence Regional Medical Center in Everett and Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, respectively. Skylor Richford was pronounced deceased at the scene as a result of injuries sustained in the collision.
Based on evidence and observations collected during the investigation, detectives believed Lacunza was impaired by drugs and/or alcohol at the time of the collision. A Clallam County judge issued an arrest warrant for Lacunza for Vehicular Homicide, with bail set at $500,000.
Over the following months, WSP detectives developed information regarding Lacunza’s whereabouts and continued efforts to locate him. Detectives ultimately located Lacunza living in a tent in a backyard in Tacoma. Lacunza escaped before he was able to be taken into custody.
On October 5, an alert citizen in Seattle recognized Lacunza from a WSP Most Wanted poster and immediately contacted 911. Seattle Police Department officers responded and took Lacunza into custody without incident a short time later.
Lacunza will be extradited to Clallam County to face the Vehicular Homicide charge, along with several other unrelated charges.
The Washington State Patrol thanks the Seattle Police Department and the citizen who recognized Lacunza and promptly contacted law enforcement. Their assistance was instrumental in bringing Lacunza into custody.
