FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
November 4, 2026
HONOLULU — The Hawai‘i Department of Health (DOH) Food and Drug Branch (FDB) is alerting residents to a recall issued by Vitality Works Inc., of its 365 Whole Foods Market Standardized + Full Spectrum Blend Ashwagandha Capsules 120 count because of potential contamination with Salmonella.
The recalled product was distributed to Whole Foods Market stores in Hawai‘i and was also available for purchase online through Amazon from Nov. 24, 2025, through Oct. 20, 2026. The product is packaged in white plastic bottles labeled as 365 Whole Foods Market Standardized + Full Spectrum Blend Ashwagandha 120 count, with UPC 9948252099. The product can be identified by lot number 2025-26227 and expiration date 10/13/2028, both printed on the bottom of the bottle. The FDB is working with the local stores to ensure that the recalled product is no longer available for sale.
Healthy people infected with Salmonella may experience symptoms including nausea, vomiting, diarrhea or bloody diarrhea, abdominal cramping and fever. In some cases, Salmonella infection can lead to more serious but rare conditions, such as arterial infections, endocarditis, arthritis, muscle pain, eye irritation and urinary tract symptoms. Children, older adults and individuals with compromised immune systems are at greater risk of severe illness.
Anyone experiencing symptoms after consuming the recalled product should contact their healthcare provider immediately. There have been no reported cases of injury or illness in Hawai‘i to date.
The FDB advises consumers to verify if they purchased the recalled product by checking the UPC code on the label as well as the lot number and expiration date printed on the bottom of the bottle. If the product is subject to recall, consumers should not consume it and should discard the recalled product. Refunds are available at any Whole Foods Market stores. Consumers with questions may contact Vitality Works Inc. at 505-268-9950 Monday through Friday from 5 a.m. to 2 p.m. HST.
