Which hand warmers are recalled
Kobayashi is recalling about 77,000 HotHands rechargeable hand warmers in the United States because the lithium-ion battery can overheat or ignite, creating fire and burn hazards. The October 1, 2026 notice says no incidents or injuries had been reported.
The recall covers model H163650, sold as a pair of white-and-orange electric warmers with USB-C charging. Check the underside for the model and a four-digit batch number. It does not cover the familiar air-activated HotHands packets. The recalled products were sold from July 2025 through August 2026 at Bass Pro Shops, Meijer, Target, Home Depot, other stores and Amazon for about $30 to $40.
Stop using them and document the refund claim
Stop charging or using the warmers. Visit the HotHands recall page to obtain a claim number, then write “Recalled” and that number on the product. The company requires a photo that shows the model and four-digit batch number before issuing a full refund. The federal notice does not list a claim deadline.
Do not put the warmers in household trash, general recycling or a store battery collection box. Contact the local household hazardous-waste center first and follow its instructions for recalled lithium-ion batteries. Kobayashi can be reached at 866-534-9986, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Eastern, or at Kobayashi5236@sedgwick.com.
