Read the corrected notice, not just the index

Family Farmstead Dairy's October 15 announcement, posted by FDA, recalls Raw Mild Cheddar Cheese with both lot code and best-by date 7/22/27 because of possible contamination with Shiga toxin-producing E. coli.

The notice says it corrects earlier distribution and bacteria details. It names grocers in New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Connecticut, Maryland, Virginia and Massachusetts, while noting possible distribution elsewhere through intermediaries.

Do not consume the identified cheese

The company says to discard affected cheese or return it to the seller for a full refund. It reported no associated illnesses when the notice was issued; that statement does not remove the recall warning.

Check the printed code before deciding a package is outside the recall. The notice excludes other Family Farmstead products and gives no refund deadline. Questions can go to 607-397-4044 or customerservice@familyfarmsteaddairy.com.
