The October 16 announcement concerns an April 2024 breach, not a new incident or an automatic customer refund.

What the state announced
Connecticut Attorney General William Tong’s office says the breach exposed sensitive information, including Social Security numbers, belonging to 58,841 state residents. The office announced the settlement October 16, 2026.
According to the office, Frontier must pay $625,000 to the state and strengthen security through training, incident-response planning, safeguards and an independent assessment. The office says Frontier and Verizon cooperated with its investigation.
Keep payment and protection questions separate
The announcement mentions separate class-action relief but supplies no consumer filing deadline. Do not treat the state payment as money automatically payable to customers. Questions about the state announcement can go to 860-808-5318 or attorney.general@ct.gov.
For credit protection, the FTC explains that freezes are free and do not lower credit scores. Request a freeze separately from Equifax, Experian and TransUnion; it limits new-account opening, including your own, until lifted. Read the FTC guide before choosing a freeze or fraud alert.
