Midwestern State advances
Midwestern State will play for the Lone Star Conference men's soccer championship after Christian Castaneda converted the decisive penalty against UT Dallas in Wichita Falls on November 4. The Mustangs prevailed 4-3 in the shootout following a 1-1 draw through two overtime periods, according to the school's November 5 recap and official box score.
Angel Escobar scored 31 seconds after Avery Brazzell put UT Dallas ahead in the 53rd minute. Neither side scored again before penalties. Midwestern State's season record stands at 14-0-5; the shootout determined advancement rather than adding a regulation or overtime victory.
The Mustangs next host St. Mary's on November 7. Midwestern State's recap lists a 7 p.m. local start and says the program is pursuing a sixth consecutive LSC tournament title.
