Monday results, checked through Tuesday morning

Shawnee State defeated West Virginia State 3–2 on Monday night after the Yellow Jackets forced a deciding set. The result led a light verified slate in State & Nation’s bounded review of official college releases published for Monday, October 26, 2026.

The results window runs from 12 a.m. through 11:59 p.m. Eastern on Monday. Official announcements were checked through 7 a.m. Eastern on Tuesday, October 27. This is a selective national report, and its assessments are State & Nation analysis rather than official rankings or postseason decisions.

Women’s volleyball: Shawnee State answers at the finish

Shawnee State won 27–25, 26–24, 19–25, 18–25, 15–13 in Portsmouth, Ohio. West Virginia State had set point at 24–22 in the second set, then recovered from the two-set deficit to extend the match. The Yellow Jackets drew within 14–13 in the fifth before Shawnee State ended it on the next point.

Maya Vilmar led West Virginia State with 14 kills, while Gabrielle Elliott had 13 and Inka Oksanen 12. The loss moved the Yellow Jackets to 11–12 overall and 7–6 in the Mountain East Conference; Shawnee State improved to 8–17 and 3–10. West Virginia State’s rally showed enough balance to win two straight sets, but its missed second-set opportunity and the early 8–2 hole in the fifth made the comeback incomplete.

Next 48 hours: an exhibition and a resumed match

Eastern Illinois hosts Illinois Wesleyan at 6 p.m. Central on Tuesday in the second of two open women’s basketball exhibitions. Eastern Illinois beat Quincy 66–57 in its first exhibition, with Nevaeh Dickman scoring 16 points and Janyah Bohanon collecting nine rebounds. Tuesday’s game is still a preseason test; Eastern Illinois opens the regular season November 3 at Drake.

No. 10 Lincoln resumes a Division II men’s soccer match against McKendree at 2 p.m. Central on Tuesday. Thunderstorms suspended the September 9 game with 4:19 left in the first half and Lincoln leading 2–0. Lincoln has since clinched its first GLVC regular-season championship and enters the resumption 11–0–4 overall and 10–0–3 in the league.

Spalding visits Blackburn at 2 p.m. Eastern on Wednesday after a 6–0 women’s soccer win over Lyon. That Saturday result moved Spalding to 7–5–2 overall and 5–1–1 in the SLIAC. The Blackburn match gives the Golden Eagles a quick test of whether the six-scorer attack and second straight shutout carry forward.

Coverage limits
