Costway recalls high chairs over entrapment and fall hazards

About 3,332 convertible chairs are affected. Costway will provide a free replacement after receiving the recalled product.
Costway is recalling approximately 3,332 convertible high chairs because children could slip between the tray and seat, become trapped or fall. The Consumer Product Safety Commission’s October 22 notice says the chairs lack a passive restraint system, violate the federal high-chair standard and pose a risk of serious injury or death. No incidents or injuries were reported.
The chairs convert into a table-and-chair set and were sold in several combinations of white with purple, red, blue or brown. CPSC says they have no product tracking information. They were sold at Walmart and Target stores nationwide and through Costway.com from May 2023 through July 2026, priced from $84 to $100.
The notice directs consumers to stop using the chairs and contact Costway for a replacement at no charge. Owners will need a receipt or product photograph; Costway will supply a prepaid return label and send the replacement after the recalled chair arrives.
Costway’s recall contact is recall@costway.com or 844-242-1885, weekdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Pacific time. The retailer is Goplus Corporation, doing business as Costway, of Fontana, California. The chairs were made in China; the recall number is 27-040.
What it means
The announced remedy requires returning the affected chair before a replacement is shipped. Because CPSC reports no tracking information on the product, the receipt or photograph is part of identifying an owner’s chair for the replacement process. The notice describes a safety hazard, not a reported injury.
