VQQQ recalls patio heaters over gas leak risk

About 100 heaters sold on Amazon are covered by the recall. Owners can request a full refund; no incidents or injuries were reported.

VQQQ is recalling about 100 natural-gas patio heaters because a malfunction could let gas escape and cause a fire or burns, the Consumer Product Safety Commission announced October 22. The agency reported no incidents or injuries associated with the recalled heaters.

The recall covers models VQQQ-A1 and VQQQ-001, which buyers can identify from the brand and model information on their purchase receipts. The heaters have a bronze-colored pole, a round base and a silver top shaped like a mushroom. Their height adjusts from 55 to 78 inches, and a gray, 24-foot gas hose connects at the base.

The heaters were sold through Amazon from July 2024 through August 2026 for approximately $346. The recall identifies the retailer as Shanxi Yuhe Sheng Maoyi Youxian Gongsi, doing business as VQQQ, in China. The products were manufactured in China.

CPSC’s recall notice tells owners to stop using the affected heaters immediately. Its instructions call for turning off the valve at the portable gas source, disconnecting the hose and contacting VQQQ to obtain a full refund.

To document the refund request, owners will be asked to mark the heater’s base with the word “Recalled” in permanent marker and email a photograph to vqqqrecall@163.com. The notice then directs consumers to dispose of the heater. The official recall number is 27-039.

What it means

This is a refund recall for two specified models, rather than an offer to repair a heater. The purchase receipt provides the identification details, and the photograph of the marked base is part of the refund process described in CPSC’s notice. The announcement reports a potential fire and burn hazard, not a confirmed injury.
