State championships and strong finishes across men’s and women’s sports contributed to the college’s annual points total.
Sierra College finished second in California’s community-college athletics division in annual rankings covering the 2025–26 school year, the college reported in a June 22 announcement. Its men’s and women’s teams accumulated 156.5 points.
The college said that total also placed it third in the Ron Case Cup standings for state-association programs in California, Oregon and Washington, and eighth nationally in the Learfield Cup’s state-divisions category. Those classifications are separate from NCAA rankings.
The Ron Case Cup counts each college’s five strongest men’s and five strongest women’s team finishes in state competition. Sierra’s total included state titles in men’s swimming and diving and women’s soccer, along with a second-place California finish in women’s tennis.
The announcement concerns the completed 2025–26 year. It is an annual athletics-program ranking, rather than a current-season ranking of an individual team.
