Twenty-three racing figures will take part in the fifth annual event, which funds technician education for women pursuing motorsports careers.

Twenty-three NASCAR drivers, owners, crew chiefs and spotters are scheduled to take part in the fifth annual Jail & Bail fundraiser on Tuesday, October 27, raising money for the Brienne Davis Memorial Scholarship, NASCAR said.

The event places participants in a mock jail while supporters contribute toward their release. Proceeds support scholarships for women pursuing technical education and careers in the automotive and motorsports industries. TechForce Foundation, the scholarship's nonprofit partner, is also accepting donations tied to the event.

Davis, a NASCAR engine inspector, died in a car crash on April 8, 2008, at age 28. She studied at Universal Technical Institute in Texas and moved to North Carolina in 2002 after contacting Dale Earnhardt Inc. engine builder Tony Eury Sr. She later worked as an engine builder before joining NASCAR in 2004, where her inspection duties included carburetors and intake manifolds.

The scholarship connects Davis' route into racing with a current entry point for women seeking technician training. NASCAR technical inspector John Sacco, who worked with Davis, described the fundraiser as a way to extend that opportunity to applicants who show similar persistence.

NASCAR's announcement lists participants from the Cup Series through ARCA. The fundraising page provides donor options and participant pages; the release does not state a fixed total fundraising goal or guarantee that a recipient will enter NASCAR.

What it means

The October 27 event turns a one-day industry fundraiser into education aid, but the practical result depends on the donations collected and the scholarship awards that follow. Contributions support training access rather than a promised job placement.

For prospective applicants, the relevant next step is the Brienne Davis Memorial Scholarship process administered with TechForce Foundation. The event's participant roster broadens visibility, while eligibility and award decisions remain governed by the scholarship program.
